I search eBay using a "from and eBay category" sieve (the 2nd, lower option when you create a new sieve). I use several categories from several different countries' eBays. I would really like to use the "exclude sellers" capability when I do this, but this option only is available for sieves created with the 1st, i.e. upper, "by performing and eBay search" type of sieve.

I was thinking of a way around this. If I used a "search" type of sieve, specifying in some way that it should search for everything in that category, then I could stack up different searches and hopefully do what I'm doing now.

Two questions. 1. would this work? and 2. how do I specify "search for everything" in a search specification?

Thanks

I think the best way is to just have a space as your search term.
I've tried it and it seems to work. I guess it won't get auctions which have just one word in their title but those are pretty rare.

So yes, should work!

I found that a single asterisk, *, returns a whole bunch of auctions, I'm assuming all of them, but I don't know for sure.
