Hi,
Auctionsieve seems to have stopped working, I've tried launching the exe in normal mode and as administrator and I can see the process starts in task manager but then immediately terminates with no error message. Anyone any ideas ? Thanks

Ok, couple of questions.

Which version of Windows are you running?
Have you rebooted the computer?
Did this start happening after the latest update to 2.8.0?
Is there anything else that may have changed on your computer?

Perhaps try uninstalling and reinstalling. (Your data will stay safe.)

Hi Nev,

I'm running Windows 7 enterprise service pack 1
I have tried uninstalling/re-installing Auctionsieve and rebooting, still
no joy.
I had noticed for awhile it didn't seem to start normally but would start if I launched it as administrator but even that has stopped working now.
I have installed some other work related software, not sure if that is related, anything else I can try, any logging I can switch on ?

Thanks a lot

One thing you can try.
Reboot and try launching AuctionSieve before anything else.
If that doesn't work, try closing some things in your system tray and try to launch.

Sometimes, in the past, I've seen a situation where I couldn't launch a Java program because of some other program running.

Hello,

My AS has stopped working too.

I have win10 64.
AS 2.8.1

I have tried:

Admin rights.
Reinstalling.
Updating Java.
Turning off other programmes.

The splash screen comes up and I get an icon on the taskbar but it does not go full screen and work.

Do not know what more I can do.

Thanks

Alan

Here's something to try.

Make a backup of your data folder - it will be somewhere like:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\AuctionSieve

Then delete that folder and try running the program.

If it runs, quit it, copy back the .sieve files, and run it again to see if you have your sieves back. If that works, then you can try copying back your watchlist.txt and pricehistory.txt files.

Let me know how you go.

Hello,

It worked and so did my sieves after I put them back in the folder.

The first and only error in over 10 years of usage.

Something I recommend is a button that says open all sieves. I have been doing in using the menu options for a decade and a button would be nice. Would save a click or 2 a few times a day.

Thanks

Alan.

Excellent! There must have been some sort of corruption of your auctionsieve.properties file. Not sure why.

There *is* something you can do to get the "open all" functionality:

You can group things into a sub-menu in the Sieves menu.

Say you have a lot of sieves related to Apple products

Click on "Options" for a sieve.
Over on the right, in "Menu tags" enter a sub-menu tag, eg Apple
Do that for all the other sieves.

Now in the sieves menu you'll have a sub-menu 'Apple' and at the bottom of the list is the option "Open all" !
