Hi Nev and everyone

I am in England using auction sieve to search through the whole of car parts trying to find auctions that are not correctly advertised. For this I use about 270 trash words and search in the car section. When I run it, it estimates that there is about 300 pages ending within 28 hours. I don’t mind it taking ages, but unfortunately it gives up after a random amount of time. Sometimes it stops after getting 2 pages, and sometimes after 30 pages, and occasionally it completes the search.
I was wondering if you knew what the problem could be.
I really like this program, thanks lots, it means I have been able to find bargains and fund me being a student!

Many thanks
Dyl

Hi Dyl,

Glad you like it!

It sounds like a problem with the new ebay pages. I would have said it was probably a memory problem when trying to retrieve 300 pages but that can't be right when it gives up after 2 pages. When you say it gives up, do you mean it says it successfully retrieved 2 pages or does it freeze or what?

Could you send me your sieve details? Find the directory/folder where AuctionSieve is installed, zip up all the .sieve files and email them to me.

Hi Nev
Thanks for your reply. By give up I mean that it stops downloading more pages after downloading a random amount of pages, and displays these results.
I have sent an email with the sieves.
Thanks for your help

Hi Nev

I tried making a simple sieve where it just searches in the uk14780 catergory on ebay UK, with no trash words or any condition. I tried to retrieve auctions finishing in the next 6 hours, so not too many pages and it still gives up. It only retrieve about 3 pages instead of the 60 there is.
I am also having problems with the trash word filter. I have some trash words in the list, and when I tick the box nearly all the auctions dissapear, even ones that dont have any of the trash words?

If you could help at all I would be very grateful.
Thanks
Dyl

Ooh that uk14780 bug is nasty. I just tried it and from page 3 to 4 it suddenly changed from bringing back items that were ending in 1 minute to items that were ending in 21 hours! What the? I'll have to do some more investigation...

Hi Nev
I was wondering if there was any solution? I downloaded the latest version, and it seems a bit more stable. I now use it to find all of some items which I can sift through, which is better than the ebay interface, but if it could ever work with my large list of trash words then that would be great?!
Thanks
Dyl
