I tried also the previous version (2.5.7) and works there.
Can you solve this in new version?

Thanks Smile

I *think* the items outside category problem is an ebay thing. I'm finding a repeated problem with a particular search, and I'm guessing this is why...

("phat boy*", "fat boy*", "simple wishes") (rover*, landrover*, "land-rover*", freelander, disco, freeloader, LR2, discovery, LR3, LR4)

Searching ebay.co.uk for All of these words, title and description, any country, only search in category uk220.

I keep getting records/CDs from the music group "Fat Boys" appearing in the sieve, obviously which aren't listed in the uk220 category (Toys and Games). What I think is happening is ebay is finding 0 results for the search and trying to "helpfully" suggest alternatives - and AS is not catching that ebay is doing this.

Instead AS accepts the first page of results, then thinks there are (say) 8 pages of results, and asks for the second page from the original search. At which point ebay returns an error because it can't return a second page on a search with 0 results - and AS brings up the error box "Ebay is returning a result I can't interpret for the sieve [as above]"...

-----

Also, I'd love a confirmation box on the Get Auctions! button, for when I've already got results in that sieve - too often I've accidentally clicked on the Get Auctions! button and lost the (new) results from the sieve, and when I have "Ignore auctions already seen" ticked this is a pain! The confirmation box could say "Are you sure you want to run this sieve again and loose current results?" (A similar confirmation on sieve [tab] close would be handy too, for similar reasons...)

Thanks
Andrew

OK, more that just "I think" Very Happy

Zero results when I search just in the UK, with "Worldwide" selected this is the result!

Note "Include description" not ticked, this takes it to 862 results with Worldwide selected. Also "Include description" has a similar "all categories" effect as selecting Worldwide (102 results) when just searching the UK...

[BTW, Phat Boys are a brand of small toy car, similar to Micro Machines: http://www.puremicros.com/xphat-cars.html ]

Thank's for new beta.. but i have the same issue.
Now I have to use 2.5.7 that work properly. But new realeses doesn't work with locatated in / any country .
I try to explain with some screenshot:

Results with 2.5.8 and after

Result with 2.5.7

ebay result ( results are same as 2.5.7)

The 1 more result is ebay item number 120887446319.
I think the Item doesn't appear in 2.5.8 beacuse shipping option for this item is set to "United kingdom" only, is not set the "World" ....
But in auctionsieve is set "Located in" and not "Available to", so the item it must to be appear in AuctionSieve 2.5.8 search result! Like 2.5.7 do...

I think the problem is that, in 2.5.8, "Located in" -> "any country" give same results as "Available to" -> "any country" ....

Did you understand what i mean? You think can you solve this?
Thank for your patience..

Regards
Giorgio

Hi Nev,

It is possible that the new Beta returns more results, but hard to judge as I hadn't run my sieves for a few days.

Unfortunately I now get lots of Http 500 errors.

Kind Regards
Andrew

It's happened almost every time I've run the current beta so far.

I've run it through a few times to try and see if there's any consistency, and there seems to be none in terms of searches; different ones are involved each time. However the number of errors has consistently gone down with each run-through, from loads last night (20+), first run this morning more than 10, to 8 then 6 and now on the most recent run through no errors at all!?!

In full the error says
"Failed to connect to eBay for "Search "[search terms]"".
Perhaps try again later.
java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response code: 500 for URL: http:///etc-very-long-url

The error message isn't helpful as it includes the URL that gave the 500 error, which puts the message way off the screen to the left (as the URL is so long, with the OK box central, the URL spills off both sides of the screen).

There's an idea for a helpful feature actually, a file that logs (say) the last 50 error messages? (Or the messages from the last three run throughs?)

Normally I'd receive at least a few emails from if this was happening for everyone.

I can't replicate it so it seems it's possibly a problem with your net connection or something. Sad

One thing you can try is to copy that long url when it happens again and paste it into your browser a few times and see if you can get the 500 error to happen.

BTW (in case you don't know) a 500 error means there's an internal server error - so it's possible that you were getting routed to a bad eBay server for a while.

Regarding logging the last errors, there's something like that already.

AuctionSieve puts the last 50 pages you retrieve in a tmp directory.
I can't remember what OS you're using but on Windows 7 it will be in
/Users/you/AppData/Roaming/AuctionSieve/tmp
The files are named like
lastpage0.html
lastpage1.html

For other OSes, the directory can be found on this page:
http://www.auctionsieve.com/support/faq/

So if you get those errors again, zip up that directory and send it to me and I can see what eBay is actually returning to you.

The problem is happening again today, different location (100+ miles away) but same ISP. I'll have to try from work (different ISP).

Found the directory - but it's not as much use as a specific error file would be, as the page files update rapidly while other sieves are running in the background, and the error page is lost before I can find it. (Looks like it's 30 pages not 50?).

Sitting and copying down that whole long URL? I can't highlight and copy it, and life is to short to type it all out manually, sorry... After all why do you think I use AuctionSieve! Very Happy And the text URL could easily be copied from a errorlog...

To do it a bit more scientifically, I tried to run each sieve individually to find an error file, but there were no errors when I did this - could it be something to do with the number of requests AS is making to ebay at once???

What a drag... sorry.
Could you take a screenshot when the error comes up?

Tried from work today - different ISP, different PC, different time of day (lunch not evening). No errors at all...

When the new Beta runs like this it is great! Seems to find more results (Any Country seems to be working) and no errors in the watchlist that I have found.

If I get errors at home again I will screengrab them - and of course I can then use an online OCR service to recover the URL!

As you may have guessed from my lack of posting any screengrabs, this error has completely gone away!

I think it was probably a problem with my ISP.
