Downloaded the 1.7.8.5 update, bit it will not run after its self installation.
I tried downloading it anew from version 1.6. It auto-updated to 1.7.8. Then ran and autoupdated to 1.7.8.5. Then would not run at all. I must force quit the application as it is unresponsive.
Any suggestions to get me going?

Sorry guys. Appears the mac doesn't like some of my new code.
I'll have a look at it tonight.
In the meantime, to go back to 1.7.8.4 :
- Go to the folder where you installed AuctionSieve.
- Delete the file called auctionsieve.jar
- Look for a file called auctionsieve1784.jar and rename it to auctionsieve.jar
Restart it and be sure to select cancel when you're notified there's an update. |

Hmmmmm, well I just tried it on a mac (pearpc emulator) running 10.3 and it worked.
But that has an old version of java on it so maybe something has changed in more recent mac java versions.
I'll need to see about upgrading to tiger and doing some more tests.
In the meantime can you send me your auctionsieve.properties files?
Oh, one other thing to try which may give me some more info is to edit your auctionsieve.properties file and change 2 lines.
Change this count to 0:
openSieve.count=0
And delete this line if it exists:
lastSieveUsedName=one of your sieve names

nev,
thanks for getting onto this so promptly. i've just downloaded 1.7.8.6 and have run it for the first time. (i have a G4 powerbook 1.67ghz running 10.4.6.. java cache viewer is 11.4.0 if that's any help.)
it now opens, the default sieve openend, but the others did not when i tried to "open all sieves". i'll restart, then will see if just the default sieve opens, and will let you know how that goes.
i had no problem reverting back to 1.7.8.4 btw. |

individual sieves (other than the one that pops up first) don't work either after restarting - the program hangs.
i amended: openSieve.count to 0, but couldn't find: lastSieveUsedName=one of your sieve names.
let me know if you'd like me to email any files. |

So durianfish, when you say it hangs, do you mean the following happens?:
- you run auctionsieve
- there are 3 tabs - watchlist, price history, some sieve
- you go to the sieve menu and select another sieve to open
- it freezes (can you see the new tab?)
or
- after going to the sieve menu and selecting another sieve to open
- it opens but when you click "get auctions" it then freezes?
Can you try something?
Go Tools->Options...->Sieve Actions
and turn off "Automatically get auctions when opening a sieve" |

i tried replicating the error but am unable to open the program now. (app name shows in top LH corner of screen, then disappears after a few seconds).
the 3 tabs appeared, when i went to the sieve menu and selected one, it then froze, can't see the new tab from memory.
i didn't duplicate the 1784.jar file and it is now missing, so i dunno how to revert to the earlier version. let me know if i should go to 1783 or what. |

I'm afraid I'm experience the same problem as durianfish....1.7.8.6 loads, the sieves with open tabs run, but any pulldowns from the menu just lock up the machine....I'm running mac os 10.4.7....please tell me if I can send any useful log files, etc.
best,
Eric |

Same issues here.
Also, is there a way to change the display font and/or font size. On my laptop I am having to resize the column widths every time I open the program and the "averages" in price history isn't visible at all.
This is a great program -- thanks for all you do! |

Yes, I ,too, had the same result. Not good, when to the first seive I got the "spinning Pin Wheel of death" Finally had to force the machine to turn off and then turn it back on.
Thanks so much for good directions of how to revert to the early version.
