I'm trying to get a search going for a vinyl called Butterfly - Can't Help Falling In Love. Now I'm trying to include the possibility of the seller not putting in the apostrophe. So my search query is Butterfly "Can*t Help Falling In Love" but it does not return this result in particular.

Anybody can give me an explanation as to why? Because I would have thought that by using can*t it could mean cant or can't or any other characters between the can and t. Thx in advance.

The * is a special character in ebay searches.

There are 3 possible things you can do :

1. butterfly (cant, can't) help falling in love
- you specify possible options within the parentheses

2. butterfly can* help falling in love
- this will match any word starting with 'can' (that's the special meaning * has)

3. butterfly can#t help falling in love
- any other non-alphanumeric character, eg ', ", #, $, etc will match any other non-alphanumeric character

From the sounds of it, you want option 1!

For info on the syntax of the search terms you can use on ebay (and AuctionSieve), have a look here :
