Hello all,

How do I find out what category belongs to a category-id?

I was looking in FAQ and searching the forum but could not get a hint...

Essentially I am setting up sieves searching several subgroups. Sometimes I need to revise them, but I'm unable to tell which category is which from the category-id alone.

Is there a way to enter the category-id in ebay to find out?

Any help appreciated
Martin

Hi nev,

But I notice that, for example, the ancient coin category, which AS shows as being category 4733 when you create a category type sieve, is shown as category 4952 in the listing you provided a link to. There's no reference on the page to category 4733. What's up with this?

Ah ha - try this :
http://listings.ebay.com/_W0QQfclZ3QQloctZShowCatIdsQQsacatZQ2d1QQsalocationZatsQQsocmdZListingCategoryList

The other one shows the number of items in each category.
There's an option up the top of that page to switch to showing the category number (id).

Then you'll see it's 4733

Hello,

thanks for the help. The page also exists on ebay.de, so there is a way to find it out. But quite cumbersome, since not all numbers are on one page, you have to select one top-category to get all numbers below that.

It would be really helpful if AuctionSieve remembers the category names alongside with the id. The name and path could be displayed once I hover across the id with the mouse, for instance.

Otherwise, great product! It stimulates my imagination...

Regards
Martin
