I have been having trouble with searches in the last version of Auctionsieve. I downloaded the latest version and am now having more trouble than before. After clicking search all open tabs I am getting error messages piling up faster than I can close them. I finally had to force quit the application. The messages read something like: Failed to connect to ebay for "search medea" Perhaps try again later. java.io.IOException: Server returned http response code: 503. etc. The error messages are in windows that are wider than my 20" screen and have to be moved in order to click the OK button. This is much worse that before.

Unfortunately this is just a coincidence.
None of the code I changed affected the retrieval part of the program.
If you go back to a previous version, the same error occurs.
Sad

I've released a beta with a bit of a workaround that will keep retrying.
Also, you can turn off the error message. Go to
Tools->Options...->Sieve Actions
and uncheck "Display error when retrieval fails"

Will have a further look tonight.

I had this problem on the previous version post Friday 5th.
Have now tried the new beta version 1.9.3.1 and it is still the same.

Hi Nev,

Why can't ebay just leave things alone!?!?

I get the same 503 error, and I agree its just a conicidence (1.9.2.3 which was working OKish yesterday, 1.9.3 and 1.9.3.1 all now give the same error). This one is serious; AS is currently unusable, even with the workaround all I get is a message "ebay is returning error pages or pages I can't intepret for .... Do you want to keep trying?" and I can recover no sieve results at all. AS does seem to connect to ebay OK to update the watchlist though.

Your efforts in fixing this are much appreciated - sorry to drag you away from Vista and AS 2.0...

Kind Regards
Andrew

AuctionSieve 1.9.4 is a vast improvement over 1.9.3. The only problem I see is some listings have "unknown" in the Time Left field. Thank you.

As I study the searches that have unknown in the time left field I see that every one has a buy it now price, but not every buy it now item has unknown in the time left field. Hope this is helpful

My problems sorted. Thanks Nev. I hope they don't start to tinker again.

totoche, new beta going out tonight will have a fix for the ebay france problem - ie will now return more than 50 results

Regarding the unknown time left, quite a number of Buy It Now items no longer have the time left listed on result pages. For example, look at this page :
http://shop.ebay.fr/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38.l1313&_nkw=dungeons&_sacat=See-All-Categories

When you look at the individual item pages, most still have an ending time. Maybe ebay think it's not relevant to display the time left on the results page for most Buy It Now store items.

I'm going to leave things as they are for now - ie show them as unknown. This will probably be changed for version 2.
