I currently have about 450 searches on Auctionsieve but I'm frustrated that it uses almost 30 megabytes per search. It means I'm limited to one search a day as I don't want to go above my monthly limit. Is it possible to reduce the bandwidth used by the searches eg by eliminating pictures or something - I just can't believe that it uses so much bandwidth per search. Perhaps an explanation would be great! |

Under "Tools, Options", "Sieve Actions" you don't have to download images.

Yeah, what Ian said.
You can turn off the downloading of images.
Tools->Options...->Sieve Actions tab->Download auction images checkbox
BTW When you say you have 450 searches what do you mean?
How many sieves do you have and how many extra searches in each sieve?
And does it work?! I've never tested running so many searches. |

Thx for the replies but unfortunately this doesn't decrease the bandwidth required by the searches - it still uses about 30mb. So in any future updates Nev, if you could figure out a way to reduce the bandwidth used by the searches, it would certainly be greatly appreciated. I'm capped at 3gb so I can only realistically run it once a day but I would really like to run it at least twice a day. Either way this is the best ebay search engine by far that I have discovered.
I currently have five sieves set up with about 100 searches each and it works extremely well. I'm happy you changed the serach options to include shop items because previously I had double the amount of searches - one for the shop items and one for the auction items. Needless to say it took me a very long time to set it up. And what's more I had to set it up twice because my computer crashed and I couldn't recover it. Yes I've learnt my lesson and have made sure I backed it up this time. |

Same set of searches has now jumped to 60 megabyte - I can download a 30min video clip with this amount of bandwidth! It's just ridiculous considering that I'm just searching for text Thx a lot ebay! Perhaps this is a back-handed compliment - your program is by far the best I've encountered Nev but I won't be using auctionsieve any longer now that's for sure. |
