I use historical listings to help me determine a suitable price range for items that I collect. It would be nice to be able to add closed auction searches to the Price History tab to create a larger, instant database to help with this function.

Many times I will be come interested in a category or item but I don't have any back data to work with.

I would like to be able to mouse-over (or right click, etc) a particular search result to conveniently identify which search produced that result. I may have hundreds of searches in a particular sieve, and if the search term is not in the auction title I may have no clue how the result was obtained. Hard to explain, but it would come in handy for the way I use AuctionSieve. It would speed things up and help me not gloss over an important old catalogue or book I may be interested in.

First of all I need to say that this is a wonderful program! Many
thanks for all the effort that has gone into it!

Some suggestions, in order of priority (and perceived feasibility):

1) In the "Sieves" menu, might it be possible to always see a "last
updated xx days ago) number together with the name of the sieve (As in
"Name of the Sieve [6d 5h])? Otherwise I find it difficult to keep
oversight when which search was conducted when for the last time.

2) Ability to turn off the sorting by catch words would be nice. How
about a new check box "Sort by Catch Word" in the Filters window?

3) The Catch Word categories in the Sieve Results listings are
separated by the Catch Word title and a faint grey or blue bar. I am
using a laptop with LCD screen and can barely see the color of the
bar, thus do not know where a new category starts. How about using
bold face for the Catch Word title and a stronger color for the
underlying bar?

4) Ability to quickly turn off preview photos would improve oversight.
One way would be a new checkbox somewhere, the other (possibly too
complicated) would be by clicking on the "Picture" column heading to
cycle through 1) sort pictures first, 2) sort pictures last 3) toggle
picture display on/off.

5) Whenever I add a new trash word which results in one or more items
being taken out of the sieve result list, the view jumps and I have to
scroll down again to find my old position. Might there be any way to
maintain my overall position in the list after items have been
removed?

6) Most browsers provide a visual clue (by shading or different
typeface) to indicate a link has been visited already in the past.
Similarly, it would be nice if there'd be a visual clue by shading or
different typeface to separate auction items which have been seen
before from those which are new (in addition to totally turning off
"seen-before" items).

7) Might it be possible to provide an option for ignoring all auctions
which have previously been seen, across all sieves?

8) Likewise, might it be possible to provide an option for temporarily
combining trash word filters from all sieves?

9) The Search Options page could be larger with more checkboxes per
line, in order to reduce the need for scrolling through the list
whenever you have many searches and to improve clarity. Some sort of a
table view with columns and column headings might be best?

10) I am using Firefox which provides for tabbed browsing (great
feature). Rather than opening a new browser instance whenever I click
on "view", would it be possible to open a new tab in the existing
browser window? That help a great deal to alleviate the problem of
having to switch between browser windows and Auction Sieve all the
time.

11) Ebay gives you the option to see what other users have been bidding
on in the past, showing either only running auctions or all auctions
including completed ones. It would be great if Auction Sieve would
provide a similar function, although I realize that would mean a whole
new set of functionality and probably be too much effort to program.

12) And last not least, trashing certain sellers would be nice, but I
realize it won't work the way Ebay is currently set up.

Many wishes, I realize. The most important thing, however, is that
Auction Sieve is already great the way it is! Thanks!

Durtdawber - that's a highly requested feature - high on my todo list.

Jim - good idea - could be tricky (I consolidate items when they occur in the results from multiple searches) but that's never stopped me before.

Spirit - wow - that's a great list of ideas.
Regarding 5 - I've got that option for catch words but not trash words. Could be good to add it. For catch words, go to Tools->Options...->Sieve Actions and turn off "After adding a Catch Word, scroll to it in the main results"

Regarding Firefox - if you go to Tools->Options...->Browser and turn off "Force creation of new browser...." does that help? You might have to go into the Options of Firefox, go to Advanced and set it to "Open links from other applications in:" "a new tab in the most recent window".
Let me know if that works! Tabbed browsing rocks.

I may not have been clear in my wording as I was not looking for a new
feature but reporting what I consider to be a small bug. Whenever I
click on a phrase in the sieve result list and put that into the trash
list, this particular item is lost and the sieve result list needs to
be updated. I think my position in the list should then jump to the
next item, either above or below the trashed one. Often this works
okay, but in the majority of all cases my position jumps way up in the
list and I have to manually page down again to find my old position
again.

Perfect! Now it works! Whenever I now click on "View" in the sieve
result list a new tab will be opened in the last used browser
instance! However, it still opens new browser instances whenever I put
check marks to the right and then click view to see a group of items.
No problem, though, I will use the first method from now on.

Once again, what a great program and best regards from Switzerland!

Any chance we see improvements for us international ebayers?

I really love Auction Sieve, but it's just a pain to search for auctions that will ship to my country.

It makes it kinda useless if I, as spanish want to sieve from the US ebay website. I've been waiting for this so long, that I just couldn't avoid asking for it again Very Happy

I would like to be able to separate "routine" watches from watches for items from sellers I have already bought items from.. either because I like the seller or to save on shipping.

ok, here's my top feature request:

i would like my search criteria listed (or optionally listed) in the sieve list and watchlist, and then i would like to be able to sort by that. often times the auction titles have the keywords in various position within the text, and that makes sorting on the title relatively useless.

ok, go back to work now Smile

I would like to see the shipping cost whenever possible listed in the results. Alot of sellers use that low price VERY high shipping and handling trick to lure people and that is a waste of time.. so being able to see the shipping cost would be great.

I would like to be able to see "Buy It Now" items highlighted or filtered in the Watchlist portion of the program.

All good suggestions everyone.

I've added the 12 hour time frame in the latest release along with a bunch of other time frames.

this one is regarding the category selection. i don't even know if there's a way to do it, but i'm sure if there is, you'll find it.

some categories are set up differently than other categories on ebay. they do not have sub-categories, they have some other sort of category. to see an example of this, see the "Fiction" category. when i do a search on this using the current AS, i get all books that are in the Fiction category. yet when i search on this in ebay, it allows me to do a search using the sub-category... Science Fiction for instance.

not having this feature, makes AS practically useless as far as sieving books is concerned.

thanks
