PostPosted: Wed Jan 27, 2010 6:00 pm    Post subject: GLOBAL Seller Exclusion - One Year Later Reply with quote

Well, I know Nev is a super-human busy guy, but one year later, and I'm still sad.

I re-post my Global Seller Exclusion idea again below.

This idea now incorporates (in my mind at least) being able to do global find and replace changes across MANY sieve fields.

Nev, when ebay suddenly says you can only search ONE category at a time, that instantly trashed hundreds of my hand-crafted sieves. Hours of work now tanked.

I KNOW that I can "crack" into the sieve files and somehow do a global find a replace manually, but what a phenomenal pain in the arse.

I HUMBLY suggest that this somehow be added-on or incorporated into it. What can I bribe you with? <hee hee!>

Here's my old post. I know Nev liked it, but I also know he's super busy ....

AS is an amazing program, but I would love to see a global seller exclusion field that could be used across ALL created sieves.

Many eBay spam listers (the guys with 400+ listings of fake crystal gingerbread houses, etc.) routinely change their eBay handles to avoid filters.

So, even if I create a filter to block each spam seller for each and every single sieve I have, I'm doomed from the beginning.

1) As soon as these spam sellers change their eBay handle, my sieves are useless to exclude these unwanted listings.

2) I must manually go back in and change each sieve, one at a time.

3) I don't think I'll live to be 500 y.o. and this is incredibly frustrating.

If only there could be a GLOBAL "fixit and forget it" approach that could be applied across ALL filters what nirvana we might know!

Under Tools on the menu bar there could be a menu choice like Global Filters.

(I can think how other Global Filters (not just for unwanted sellers) will keep AS as fluid and malleable as it needs to be with the ever-changing eBay monster. Can anyone else?)

Keep up the great work, Nev! :D

Hi Ian,

Yep - I'll be the first to admit there are a lot of features that have been in the pipeline for a looooooong time.

But today you're in luck!
In a quest to avoid working on some bugs, I've implemented a number of features today. And I'm happy to say, I've just finished implementing your idea of a global seller exclusion list!

The option is under Tools->Options->Sieve Actions.

I should be releasing a new beta in the next day or two.
