|

Hi Nev,
I came across a problem with Auction Sieve returning very few results during the past week, I thought it was the Easter with a reduced number of people listing but the problem is not solved even today I am getting around 1/3 from my regular results. I am not getting any error, the search is performing well but I get for example like 300 results from around 900-1100 I used to retrieve.
I tried all my regular categories and the get the same reduced results. Perhaps there was another change with Ebay?
Thank you! |

Okay, I usually search through the main category which is: 281 and after price, bids, filters I was getting around 900-1000 results every 24 hours since I look only in new auctions.
Also I thought that probably the main category (281) may be bugged so I started a sieve with every sub-category from this category and I got the exact same results.
Want to say that I also tried to downgrade ASieve to a previous version and despite the errors I am getting the same number of results.
Also I tried to manually search for the results in Ebay and searching with the same filters on my Sieve I got around 3x more results than in the Auction Sieve. Not taking in account the "already seen" auctions, just the raw results compared to raw results from Asieve.
The decrease of returning results started about one week ago.
Hope you can find out what is going on.
Thanks Nev! |

Ok, I've had a look at this and it's due to changes eBay have made to stores.
The old store inventory format is now gone, so all store items appear as just plain BIN items.
However, occasionally an old page will be returned - one which thinks store inventory still exists and by default it returns results without the store inventory included.
On the search I tried, I was getting 245 items but occasionally it would return 81 items (and over on the left under Buying Formats the old option "Include Store Inventory" would appear).
This will screw up the results.
Hopefully eBay will eventually fix this.
In the meantime I may be able to force it to work. I'll try out a few things... |

After better research I found out that the searches are mostly returning store items, it is a huge decrease in private seller items. And actually we are all looking for bargains. All bargains are mostly coming from private sellers not from stores.
Do you have any idea why? |

Starting with yesterday during the search process (not including stores) in certain categories I am starting to get java errors with the message "unable to find host: search.ebay.com".
Perhaps Ebay changed the whole listing index not only the stores. |

Some more info.
Trying to get top level categories will no longer work.
For example, category 281.
If you try to browse this category you get a general kind of home page with a list of sub-categories :
http://jewelry.shop.ebay.com/
This is fair enough because the number of items available below this category is enormous. Even the item count for the sub-categories is enormous - for example Watches has over 600,000 items - 12,000 pages. |

Ok, new beta is out.
Still needs some work.
Go to Tools->Check for beta updates
Unfortunately (for AuctionSieve) I'm heading off for the weekend for some time with the family - but I'll be back monday night to get stuck into more changes. |

This evening when I tried running my regular sieves, I got only one result for each tab (usually it is between 15 and 250 per tab). I tried following your instructions, but there is no lastpage.html in the relevant folder. Is there something I can do to help you test what the issue might be?
Kind Regards
Alex |
