When you say Opera works, do you mean, if you set it as the default browser, you don't get the problem? Ie the View links work?

Yes. Exactly. I still have problems with both Safari and Firefox but not Opera. I tried 'resetting' Safari but it did not work for me. Could I have a Universal internet plug-in that is read by FF and Safari but not Opera? I've checked that folder (directory) but nothing is obvious.

This link now comes up as invalid but I believe it to be one that would not resolve earlier. I was able to copy it quickly before the error occurred.

http://ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?icep_ff3=2&pub=5574642922&toolid=10001&campid=5335846438&ipn=psmain&icep_vectorid=229466&kwid=902099&mtid=824&kw=lg&customid=AuctionSieve2.5.0&icep_item=320554555089

Similar links all display very (very) briefly in the browser window then the main US ebay page loads.

Ok, try this.
In AS go into the Browser options tab and tick 'Force creation...'
Run a search.
Click on a View link.

Now go to
/Users/username/Library/Application Support/AuctionSieve/tmp
Open up view01.html in TextEdit
In there, you'll find the rover.ebay.com link.
Copy that, paste it into your browser(s) and see what happens.

Heh - got distracted by real work and only just finished my post after you'd already posted.

Ah - even so, that link you posted may be an intermediate one. (Doesn't work for me - gets an error.) Try doing as I suggested above.

Further - link above works ok if you add rover on to the front - ie so it's rover.ebay.com

Here is that link:
http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?icep_ff3=2&pub=5574642922&toolid=10001&campid=5335846438&ipn=psmain&icep_vectorid=229466&kwid=902099&mtid=824&kw=lg&customid=AuctionSieve2.5.0&icep_item=380243244478

It appears to try to load but still takes me to the eBay home page.

Okay -

Chrome, Camino and Opera work fine.

Safari and FireFox do not.

All browsers are up to date.

I really, really like the 1Password plug-in so I will use whatever browser supports it. Probably Camino.

All. Just did it again with all boxes checked but the AS links still do not work properly in Safari.

Have you rebooted - that's always a good one... sigh

Can you think of any other changes/updates that might have happened before it started happening?

I have rebooted, checked permissions and drive integrity.

Other than the FF 3.6.6 upgrade, no changes that I initiated. I downgraded FF to 3.6 but there was no change. After I re-upgraded to the current FF version it now loads the AS temp file for a prolonged few seconds before bringing me to the eBay home page. I seldom use Safari so do not know why it is affected.

I have disabled all possible FF ad blocking and redirect blocking add-ons. These never caused issue before but disabling /restarting did not help.

I'm stumped and do not have time to continue diagnosing. I'll switch browsers for AS for awhile and hope something clicks in the coming weeks.

Thanks for all your assistance.

Today, during my daily use of your app, I still can't get my auctions to appear when I click the "VIEW" button (after selecting certain auctions). Only been having this problem for a few days, so something must have changed at eBay.

MY STATS....

OS: Win 7 Pro

IE: 8 (8.0.7600.16385)

WITHIN YOUR APP...

TOOLS -> OPTIONS ->

Default eBay: US - ebay.co

- Ignore "The " when...

Get auctions...
- by performing an ...
Each search:
- US-ebay.com
- including store items
- club 33
- exact phrase
- search title & desc
- only show items located in any country

RESULTS

After I have checked certain auctions and then when I click "VIEW" I get IE windows sitting at the eBay home page! But they are there AFTER executing a command: "C:\Users\SkipKing\AppData\Roaming\Aucti..." (that's all I can see). When I select "back a page" on the IE browser, it simply goes right back to the eBay home page! WEIRD!

Again, I'm getting around this by loading my selections into the WATCHLIST instead, and then manually selecting each eBay auction to load it into my WATCHES at eBay.

If you need more help/info, I'm here for you. No hurry on this. I appreciate your allowing me to use this app for so long!

Hi Guys,

My default browser is Firefox. After reading this I changed my default browser to IE (shiver). Then it worked fine. Then back firefox and it went back to the main ebay page being loaded (incorrect). Then made Chrome the default and it again worked fine. Back to firefox and again it doesn't work. I have reloaded the latest Java engine with no success. Late last week (I think) I upgraded to Firefox 3.6.6. Can't swear to it but it was about the same time it broke...

For me: Chrome not working. Firefox not working. IE is working (but all my bookmarks etc. etc are on Firefox - and I despise using IE). Hope there is some simple fix. All those above will not work.
Cheers!

I posted about this on the eBay Partner Network discussion board and there have been some replies from other people experiencing the same issue.

http://forums.ebay.com/db2/topic/Ebay-Partner-Network/Rover-Links-Not/510237054

One solution that seems to work for some people is to clear out the cookies in their browser.

Eg in Firefox go to Tools->Options...->Privacy->Show Cookies
Do a search for ebay and remove all those cookies.

This makes some sort of sense considering that different browsers work or don't work for different people.

Tried it. It works when all cookies are cleared. As soon as I sign in to eBay, the links do not resolve. That's no good because I want to put some of the items on my eBay watchlist and, therefore, must sign in!
Cheers!
