A strange problem from a few days ago. As part of general maintenance I quit all programs and restarted my Powerbook.
I had some items in the watchlist at the time I quit Auction Sieve. When I restarted and opened AS again it was quite bizarre as the items that were in the watchlist had disappeared and ones from about two years ago were there in their place. I checked the completed items to see if the stuff I was watching had ended up there and could be moved back, however not only were they not there, but the most recent result was also from two years ago, whereas I have had hundreds of completed auctions saved there since then.
I'm wondering if this is an Auction sieve issue or perhaps the hard drive on my computer? I did backup a week or so ago, so I suppose it can be restored up until then.
I came to this forum to see if anyone else had reported such a problem, but it seems I'm the only one, which suggests something odd happened with my machine. It's not a big deal to lose the info, although it is nice to have a price history.

If I am going to recover from the backup, which is done by SuperDuper, do I just grab one particular folder and use it to replace an existing one?

The folder you want is
/Users/username/Library/Application Support/AuctionSieve
You can copy everything but most important are:
all .sieve files
auctionsieve.properties
watchlist.txt
pricehistory.txt

If you want, you could zip up that folder and send it to me and I could see if I can figure out what happened. There are some .bak files that may be of interest although they've probably been overwritten by now.

BTW Are you still running Tiger?

I'm on 10.4.11 which is as far as Tiger went. I'm running a G4 Powerbook and I've read that it probably won't work well with any of the more recent operating systems. I will be purchasing a new Mac sometime later this year - perhaps hung onto this one a bit too long. However as Lion now won't run any Power PC software I also have to plan for replacing every application that I use; therefore I procrastinate.
I will email you those files.

After I had the problem I checked for beta archives and there was one so I updated, and then yesterday I think there was the upgrade to 2.60 which I am now running. Just mentioning this in case it has any bearing on examining the folder.

I'll put an update here in case this ever happens to anyone else. Nev kindly offered to look at the Auction Sieve files from my drive and confirmed that the last two years of data was gone. I suspect a memory problem on my hard drive. I was able to replace the folder with the contents of the last backup and now have all the results back again.
Thank you to Nev for the advice and for the excellent software.
