Firstly my apologies if this has been asked before - I can't find it anywhere.
I'm using 2.6.1 and have a number of searches set up to use eBay.com to search and to show items located in any country.
The eBay user ID I have is Australian and there are many results from eBay.com that are not appearing in the search results as the item is not available to Australia.
I have a US mate who will forward things to me or even bid for me but I'm not even seeing them
Is there any way of overcoming this?
AuctionSieve is VERY cool BTW |

I don't have any answers, but Nev (the AS developer) sometimes is away from the forum for a week or two, and then answers a whole bunch of questions at one time. |

Hmm, well as far as I can tell, AuctionSieve is returning the same results as the eBay advanced search pages.
And in the case of going to ebay.com.au and selecting 'Available to' 'Any country' it still only returns the same results as if you didn't select it at all!
If you select 'Located in' 'Any country' it seems to work.
What are your settings, what are you expecting and what are you getting? |

Hmmm, OK.
My settings are:
Use US-ebay.com
Show items Located in Any Country
My primary address for eBay is Australia but I have postal forwarding services or contacts all over the world so can use a local address in most major areas.
Over the last 3 years I've built up a world class collection with the help of AuctionSieve with over 400 purchases. During the last month or so there have been a number of highly collectible items that have sold on eBay.com. I've heard of them on collectors forums and tracked down the original auctions and had never seen them on my searches. It breaks my heart to have missed out on some really nice gear ! These are not the sort of items that I would have missed looking at the search results.
Not sure if that helps. I can PM you a couple of examples if that helps |

As I've posted about elsewhere, this is ebay filtering the data you see. I guess they've done it so the "average user" doesn't see 1000s of results they're unlikely to buy in a foreign land.
For the power users like us lot, it's a pain because as you say, sometimes great things are missed. It's a pain in the backside for collectors!
The only way I have of even partly dealing with it is to do the same search on (almost) every ebay site - which thankfully AS makes possible, but unfortunately all the searches make it a little time consuming. The problem is that AS needs to log in to each site to make the search, which gives ebay your geographical location and then enables them to start filtering the search data...
(A bigger problem I'm finding is that ebay is blocking comms with certain international sellers, this makes me really angry when there is something I want to buy!) |
